Blue Hands Mobile Dye Lab

led by artists from the Blue Hands Collective

Join us for a blue afternoon dedicated to indigo! We will begin with a lecture on the fascinating history of this infamous plant, followed by a hands-on dyeing experience with Blue Hands Art Mobile Dye Lab led by artists from the Blue Hands Collective. Lunch and materials are included, and you are encouraged to bring along old, worn, natural fiber items such as a shirt, pair of pants or old cloth napkins that could use a refreshing blue makeover. The only stipulation is they are made of natural fibers like cotton or linen. Anything with polyester or nylon will not dye.

  • Tickets are $115 and include the lecture, lunch, and hands-on workshop with (3) tea towels provided.

  • Doors open at 10am, lecture begins at 10:30am.

  • Registration for this workshop closes on Thursday, June 12th

  • This workshop is subject to cancellation if minimum enrollment is not met

Disclaimer: Indigo is a fabric dye known for its strong odor and potential to leave stains on garments and objects. We strongly recommend wearing appropriate clothing that participants do not mind getting stained. Participants will be working with the dyes and clothing may come in contact with the dyes during the workshop. GOCA and Blue Hands will take necessary precautions to minimize the impact of the dye with verbal and visual instructions to participants. However, participants understand that accidents can occur, and complete prevention cannot be guaranteed.
