Art inspires artists! What better way to engage your creative genius than writing in an art exhibition. Join Ashley Cornelius, for engaging writing workshops exploring the themes of identity, love, grief, and memories. Mixing visual art and poetry participants will practice harnessing their imaginations. Each workshop will have a new prompt allowing for multiple opportunities for. We'll draw inspiration from Untitled (L.A.) by Félix González-Torres and create beautiful works of our own. No experience needed, all are welcome.

About Ashley Cornelius

Ashley Cornelius is an award-winning spoken word poet whose work is a powerful testament to identity, social change, and joy. Ashley was the first Black Poet Laureate of the Pikes Peak Region in Colorado Springs. As a poet, keynote speaker, workshop facilitator, and author, she weaves language into a force for transformation, using poetry as both art, healing, and activism. Notably, Ashley has opened up for former U.S. Poet Laureate, Joy Harjo, she is a two-time TedX speaker, and she performed for the Grandmother of Juneteenth, Opal Lee. Ashley is the author of "Translations From the Soul", her debut poetry collection. As a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Ashley integrates poetry into healing spaces and spent 7 years in healthcare. Ashley is the Co-Director of Poetry719, a grassroots Black-led poetry group lifting the voices of marginalized communities through art  and poetry events. Whether on stage or in intimate workshops, she creates spaces where words become bridges, fostering connection, understanding, and empowerment.
