Learn More About GOCA

GOCA MISSION

To spark engaged dialogue about contemporary culture through visual art exhibitions, public programs, and special events that articulate aesthetics, current issues, and diverse perspectives for a wide range of audiences.

GOCA VISION

We exist to lead the way in producing and providing access to significant contemporary art experiences of national and international relevance in the region. We center respect for artists in this important work, and we ensure that 100% of artists and creatives receive funding for work with GOCA. GOCA follows W.A.G.E. standards for artists and creatives who collaborate and contract to work with us.

GOCA was made just for you.

We're an institution that's about you, our friends and visitors. When we think about upcoming exhibitions and lectures, we're thinking about you and what you might think is cool/fun/challenging/exciting/new.

We're a place for the people, where exhibitions are free, refreshments are plentiful, and humor is welcome.

Exhibition Planning Process & Collaborations

GOCA’s exhibition program is typically planned two years or more in advance, and most exhibitions are the result of proposals generated by our in-house curatorial team or collaborations with our faculty and other institutions.

The majority of exhibitions and commissions arise from direct invitations to artists and curators with the express goal of creating a varied artistic program for our audiences. Therefore we can only rarely accommodate unsolicited projects. While we may review your work, doing so does not constitute a promise to exhibit your work. Unfortunately, we cannot respond to each inquiry nor can we return unsolicited materials, due to the volume of requests.

The gallery spaces are primarily used for programming and partnerships. If you are interested in partnering with GOCA, email: gallery@uccs.edu

Internships, Work Study, Student Hourly Positions

GOCA is a teaching gallery. We're all about research, innovation, and new ideas. Student workers are an integral part of our team.

UCCS offers one internship and one major for students in Museum Studies & Gallery Practice through the UCCS Visual & Performing Arts Department and the Bachelor of Innovation program. Learn more HERE.
If you are interested in working with GOCA and are a currently enrolled or soon-to-be-enrolled student, we hire using the UCCS Student Employment Assistance Network, (SEAN). Check the website to see if there are job openings. Work-study awards are not required to apply, but if you have one please let us know. We provide structured opportunities for our students to advance during their time working with GOCA. If you have a passion for the arts, museums, gallery practice, contemporary art, art handling, graphic design, creative and inclusive events, fundraising, and communication, or are just curious to learn more about all the above, you’ll gain knowledge in all positions with GOCA.

UCCS students can email gallery@uccs.edu to inquire about these opportunities.

Volunteering

We regularly need volunteers like you for exhibition openings, artist talks, performances, family programs, receptions, and special events. As a GOCA volunteer, you get free admission to events, meet people in the field—and earn our everlasting gratitude.
