“Dreaming of Flight” and “Peasblossom and Co.”
by Heather Clark Designs
Heather Clark loves creating a visual story, manipulating shapes and color and texture to convey a narrative, a heightened reality. This project inspired her imagination, sending Clark down design rabbit holes, had her searching through books on plants, photography, pop art, and paper flower folding, and going into a deep dive into the psych music of the late 60s and 70s, to finally hit on the concept that flowered.
Join Heather Clark Designs and the Psychedelic Garden Dance Troupe on a journey through a looking-glass, to an Alice-In-Wonderland-like view of the riches found in a garden, a fever- dream in which birds and flowers and foliage awaken and transform to attend a gala party, celebrating under the stars, in a dancing swirl of color and life.
ABOUT HEATHER CLARK DESIGNS
Over the course of a career spanning 25 years, Heather Clark has created theatrical costumes running a gamut of styles and genres, from the quiet intimacy of The Diary of Anne Frank and the sparkling period humor of The Importance of Being Earnest, to the spectacles that are A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum and La Cage Aux Folles. Her work for individual clients is just as wide ranging, including garments for period weddings, real-life superheroes, classic tailoring and fantastical creatures, all created to tell a story, be it in front of a stage audience, or on a vacation ski slope (this actually happened!)
